Starting this summer 2025

I will be offering TWO classes

Beginners Badass Building Basics

 You will learn about building materials, hand tools, power tools, buying, measuring, and cutting wood, fasteners, and very basic joinery. Essentially, you will learn the fundamental skills needed to build things. You will get your hands on every tool, and we will work to dissolve your fears and trepidations you may have. I will teach you the tips and tricks of my lifelong love of building. And we will LAUGH and enjoy delicious days in the warm summer country sun. I want you to leave unafraid to try things out and make basic building projects at home. This is a 3-day class Friday Saturday Sunday.Where you can take a 3 day class on the very basics of building. No experience necessary. Spend a beautiful 3 days in the country with like minded folks learing the essentials of building. This is not a woodworking/ cabinet shop class. Its a comprehensive immersive hands on workshop where we cover all aspects of the fundamentals and skills you need to build things. We cover

“How to Build a Tiny House”

This is a very special opportunity to not only learn all the basics of building

but get actual hands-on experience putting all the lessons into action.

The class is divided into 8 “MODULES”

Each Module will be offered for two weeks. 4 Days a week, 4 slots a day. So you will have 8 different days to choose from for each “module”. For example, if Fridays are best for you, you can sign up for the Fridays for each module. If one module you can’t do the Friday dates you can select a Thursday class for that module if it is available. Very flexible.

Module One - Floors Framing / Insulation / Vapor Barrier / Subfloor

Module Two - Wall Framing / Exterior and Interior

Module Three - Exterior and Interior Sheathing / Building Paper

Module Four – Windows and Doors

Module Five - Electrical

Module Six - Plumbing

Module Seven – Insulation and Indoor Sheathing

Module Eight - Roofing /Exterior Siding

The classes will be offered Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

I will take 4 students each day to keep hands on and lectures very intimate and promise an extensive immersive intensive experience. And to keep my eyes on you constantly as for me safety is paramount.

Each day we all meet at 10 AM in “the Barn”. We do a 2 hour “lecture” and Q and A, for example for Module 2 Framing, I will lecture on the ins and outs of basic wall framing. Things to watch out for. Common mistakes. Then Q and A. We will talk about the tools we will be using that day. Get people up to speed working with these tools then take a one-hour lunch. Then from 1-5 we will all go out and put these lessons to work, actually building a wall. (This is my favorite part of building.) Same format for each module.
